How to Set Up MikroTik Billing for Your ISP in Kenya (No RADIUS Server Needed)

What MikroTik Billing Automation Actually Does

Many small ISPs in Kenya still activate and suspend PPPoE accounts on MikroTik by hand. It is slow, easy to get wrong, and it caps how fast you can grow.

An automated MikroTik billing system closes the loop for you:

• Customer pays via M-Pesa → the billing system confirms the payment → the router activates their connection within seconds.
• The billing cycle expires → the billing system suspends the account on the router automatically.

Setting Up MikroTik Billing with Jasiyo

Step 1 — Name your router

In your Jasiyo dashboard, go to Routers → Add Router and give the router a name you will recognise, such as the site or estate it serves.

Step 2 — Scan your router

Jasiyo scans the device to detect what is already there: RouterOS version, WAN interface, existing bridges, IP pools, and any PPPoE or Hotspot configuration. Nothing is changed at this stage — the scan only reads.

Step 3 — Configure

Choose a setup mode. A fresh setup builds the bridge, address pools and services from scratch; an existing setup leaves your current configuration alone and installs only the agent. Jasiyo pre-fills sensible defaults, chosen to avoid clashing with the ranges already on the device.

Step 4 — Provision and install the agent

Jasiyo generates a script for your router. Paste it into the MikroTik terminal once. It applies the configuration and installs the phone-home agent, which connects outward to Jasiyo and keeps the router in sync. Because the connection is outbound, this works behind CGNAT and needs no public IP or open inbound port.

Step 5 — Create plans and connect M-Pesa

Create your PPPoE or Hotspot plans with the speeds and prices you sell, then connect your M-Pesa Paybill or Till. When a customer pays, Jasiyo receives the callback and the router applies the change immediately.
