    Beyond the Router

    Choosing the right Access Points

Once you grow past 60 users, separate your routing from your radio. A dedicated router + managed APs is the architecture that real ISPs use. All APs below work with MikroTik routers as standalone units.

    Your Roadmap

    Hardware that grows with you

Every successful hotspot ISP has gone through these stages. Here's what to buy at each one.

    1

Stage 1 ยท Prove the idea

    RB951Ui-2HnD or hAP ac lite

Start with one router and one location. Get your first 20 customers paying. Don't over-invest yet.

    2

Stage 2 ยท First 100 customers

    RB4011 or RB5009 + 2โ€“3 external APs

Separate your routing from your radio. A dedicated router + managed APs is how real ISPs are built.

    3

    Stage 3 ยท Multi-site / large venue

    CCR1009 or CCR2004

At this scale, redundancy matters. Add a backup router and monitor uptime proactively via Jasiyo.

    Why Jasiyo

Your router does the plumbing. Jasiyo runs the business.

Once your MikroTik is set up, Jasiyo takes over โ€” automating payments, managing customers, and keeping your network healthy around the clock.

    One-click router provisioning

Jasiyo configures your MikroTik hotspot automatically โ€” no scripting knowledge needed.

    M-Pesa STK Push billing

Customers pay from their phone and connect instantly. Funds land in your own Paybill.

    Session & voucher management

Issue time-limited or data-capped vouchers. Track who's online, who's expired, and who owes.

    Multi-router dashboard

Manage 1 router or 50 from a single dashboard. Add new sites in minutes.

    SMS notifications

Expiry reminders, payment receipts, and suspension alerts sent automatically to your customers.

    Real-time analytics

Revenue graphs, session counts, and customer growth โ€” everything you need to make decisions.

    Common questions

Do I need a separate router and access point?

For up to 60 users, an all-in-one like the RB951Ui is fine. Above that, split your roles: a dedicated router (RB4011, RB5009, CCR) handles traffic, while APs handle wireless โ€” this setup is much more stable and scalable.

Which RouterOS version should I use โ€” 6 or 7?

RouterOS 7 is the future and Jasiyo supports both. The RB5009 and L009 are RouterOS 7 native. Stick with ROS 6 only if you have older hardware that isn't officially supported on ROS 7.

    RB4011 vs RB5009 โ€” which should I buy?

If your uplink is 1 Gbps or less, either works fine. The RB5009 wins on raw CPU performance and has a 2.5G WAN port for faster fibre. For a new build in 2025/2026, the RB5009 is the better investment at a similar price.

Can I use non-MikroTik routers with Jasiyo?

Jasiyo is built specifically around MikroTik's RouterOS API and hotspot manager. Other brands are not currently supported.

Which access point is best for outdoor hotspots?

The Ruijie RG-RAP6262(G) offers the best range and client density outdoors. For a budget outdoor option, the TP-Link TL-EAP225-Outdoor is very reliable. All listed APs work with MikroTik routers as standalone units.

Where do I buy MikroTik routers in Kenya?

Authorised distributors include Westcon Kenya, Network Plus, and several shops along River Road and in Nairobi CBD. Always buy from authorised dealers to get genuine hardware with warranty.

Got your router? Let's go live.

Jasiyo provisions your MikroTik, connects your M-Pesa, and has your hotspot accepting payments in under an hour.
