Starting a hotspot business — or already running one?

Jasiyo is the billing system for an internet business in Kenya — hotspot, monthly home and office connections, or both together. Your customer pays on their phone, your MikroTik router lets them online, and their access closes when the time they paid for is up.

    • Use the MikroTik you already own
    • Customers pay you by M-Pesa
    • Payments go into your own account
    • 7-day free trial

    Heard of Jasiyo?

    What Jasiyo is

One system for the whole business

Jasiyo sits between your customers' payments and your MikroTik router. It keeps your customer list, sells your plans, takes the money, opens and closes access on the router, messages your customers, and shows you what the business earned.

Hotspot — Wi-Fi by the hour

Customers connect, pick a bundle on your own login page and pay per session. Best for markets, hostels, estates, trading centres and campuses.

    • Your branded login page
    • Bundles by hour, day, week or month
    • Voucher codes for counter sales
    • Sessions end when the time is up

PPPoE & static — monthly internet

Each home or office gets its own login and a fixed speed, billed every month. This is the subscription half of an ISP.

    • Customer list with due dates
    • Suspended automatically when unpaid
    • Reconnected the moment they pay
    • Speed and fair-use limits per plan

Run either, or both at once, on the same router and in the same dashboard.

Jasiyo is not your internet provider. You keep your own uplink and your own customers. Jasiyo handles the billing and the access; your upstream provider still supplies the bandwidth.

    How it works

What happens when someone buys internet from you

A hotspot sale, start to finish.

    Step 1

    They pick a bundle

They connect to your Wi-Fi and your own login page opens with your plans and prices on it.

    Step 2

    They pay on their phone

They enter their number and approve the M-Pesa prompt. The money lands in your account.

    Step 3

    Your router opens access

Jasiyo tells your MikroTik to let that customer online. They are browsing in seconds.

    Step 4

    Time runs out, access closes

Their session ends at the router when the time they paid for is up.

PPPoE runs the same way on a monthly cycle. A PPPoE home or office subscriber gets an SMS before their due date, pays by M-Pesa, and is reconnected the moment it confirms. If they do not pay, they are suspended automatically.

    Before you start

What you need to go live

This is the whole list. Two things are required and one is optional.

    A MikroTik router

Jasiyo talks to it directly to create customers, open hotspot sessions and set speeds. RouterOS 7 is what to build on — the hEX S, RB5009, RB4011 and CCR all run it well.

    Required

    A way to get paid

Your own M-Pesa Paybill or Till, a bank paybill, PayHero or Paystack — whichever fits how you already operate.

    Required

    An SMS provider

For payment confirmations, vouchers and expiry reminders. Jasiyo's own sender works from day one, or connect your own for your business name.

    Optional

    Also worth knowing

Your own internet uplink from an upstream provider. Jasiyo bills for the connection; your provider supplies it.
Your router needs to reach the internet so it can talk to Jasiyo.
A working phone number, for account verification and support.
Nothing to pay to get started: setting up yourself is free. Our team doing it with you is an optional one-time KSh 500.

Keep the router you already own!

Already have a MikroTik and customers on it?

Then you keep it. Your existing hotspot or PPPoE customers stay connected while the router is brought onto Jasiyo.

    One script, pasted once

You paste a setup script into your router and it reports in.

Your network config is left alone

Onboarding a live router installs the billing agent. Your bridges, wireless, WAN and addressing stay as you set them.

    Moving from another billing system?

PPPoE customers keep the username and password they already use. Hotspot customers have none to move. Add your PPPoE list yourself, or send it to us if it runs past 30.

Or we do it with you

If you would rather not touch it yourself, our team sets it up with you on a call — a one-time KSh 500.

Customers see your business on the login page

The page that opens when someone joins your Wi-Fi carries your name, your logo, your support number and your own bundles. You decide what is sold and for how much — by the hour, the day, the week or the month.

    • Your name, logo and colours on the login page
    • Your own plans, your own prices, changed whenever you like
    • A free taster bundle if you want one
    • Voucher codes for selling over a counter or by hand
    • Customers reconnect to a session they have already paid for

    Your Wi-Fi, your login page.

    Getting paid

    Paid while you sleep.

The money goes straight to you

You connect your own M-Pesa or payment account. Customer payments settle directly into it, reconcile themselves, and appear in your dashboard as they land. Jasiyo does not hold your funds, so you are not waiting on us for a payout.

    M-Pesa

Paid straight into your own Paybill, Till or bank account. No Daraja API needed.

    PaybillTillBank

    PayHero

Collect M-Pesa payments and have them settle into your bank account.

    Bank settlementNo API needed

    Paystack

Take card payments as well as mobile money.

    CardsMobile money

SMS to your customers. You can use Jasiyo's built-in sender straight away — messages arrive from Jasiyo rather than your business name — or connect your own SMS gateway to send under your own sender ID.

Questions ISPs in Kenya ask us

Tap a question to open the answer.

    What exactly is Jasiyo?
Software that runs the business side of your internet service. It takes the payment from your customer, tells your MikroTik router to let that customer online, and closes that access when their time runs out.
Do I need to buy anything from Jasiyo?
No. You buy your own MikroTik router and you keep your own M-Pesa account. Jasiyo is only the software that connects the two. If you already have a router with customers on it, you connect that one.
Does my money pass through Jasiyo?
No. Customer payments go into your own Paybill, Till, bank account or PayHero account. Jasiyo controls the internet access; it does not handle the money, so you are not waiting on us for a payout.
    What does it cost?
KSh 25 per PPPoE or static customer per month, or 3% of what your hotspot collects. There is one KSh 1,000 monthly minimum across your whole account, not per service. Setting the router up yourself is free; if you want our team to do it with you, that is a one-time KSh 500.
    Is there a free trial?
Yes, 7 days. You can connect a router, create your plans and take real payments from real customers before paying Jasiyo anything.
I already have customers on my router. Do I start over?
No. Onboarding a live router installs the billing agent; your bridges, wireless and WAN settings stay as they are, and your hotspot and PPPoE customers stay connected while it is brought onto Jasiyo.
I am moving from another billing system. What actually changes on my router?
PPPoE customers keep the username and password they already use — the password sits in the customer's own router at home, so it has to stay the same. Hotspot customers have none to move; they are known by the phone number they pay from and appear on their first payment. Two things do change on the router: your plans map onto MikroTik profiles, so set that mapping before you push, and your hotspot login page becomes your Jasiyo one.
How do I get my PPPoE customers in?
Add them yourself with the username and password each already uses. If you have more than 30, send us your list and our team moves them for you and puts each on the right plan. That is our assisted setup, so the one-time KSh 500 onboarding fee applies.
    Which MikroTik should I use?
Build on RouterOS 7 — the hEX S, RB5009, RB4011 and the CCR range all run it well. RouterOS 6 is still supported for devices already in service, but several newer capabilities only work on 7, so it is not what you want under a new network. Avoid the RB941-2nD (hAP lite) entirely; it does not have the resources to run a hotspot reliably.
Can I run hotspot and PPPoE together?
Yes — on the same router and in the same dashboard. Hotspot sells Wi-Fi by the hour or day at a login page. PPPoE bills fixed monthly connections for homes and offices. Most ISPs start with one and add the other.
What happens when a customer's time expires?
Their access closes at the router when the time they paid for is up. You do not have to track anyone's expiry date.
Can my customers pay without calling me?
Yes. A hotspot customer picks a bundle on the login page, enters their number, approves the prompt on their phone and is online in seconds. A PPPoE customer pays and is reconnected automatically.
Do you send my customers SMS?
Yes — payment confirmations, vouchers and expiry reminders. In Kenya you can use Jasiyo's built-in sender straight away, or connect your own gateway to send under your own business name.
    How long does setup take?
You paste one script into the router and it reports in within a few minutes. Deciding your plans and prices is the part that takes longer, and that is your call.
