SMS Gateway (Bonga SMS)
Configure Bonga SMS as your SMS gateway in Jasiyo for automated payment receipts, expiry reminders, and customer onboarding messages.
Jasiyo uses Bonga SMS as its platform SMS gateway for sending automated messages to your customers — payment confirmations, expiry reminders, and onboarding credentials. Bonga SMS is a Kenyan bulk SMS provider with competitive rates and high delivery reliability.
Setup in Jasiyo
Create a Bonga SMS account
Sign up at bongasms.co.ke and top up your SMS credits. Purchase a sender name (alphanumeric sender ID) to show your business name instead of a random number.
Get your API credentials
In your Bonga SMS dashboard, go to API Settings and copy your API Key and Client ID.
Configure in Jasiyo
Go to Settings → SMS (or SMS in the sidebar) in your Jasiyo dashboard. Enter your Bonga SMS API Key, Client ID, and sender name.
Send a test SMS
Click Send Test SMS and enter your own phone number. You should receive the test message within a few seconds.
What messages are sent automatically

| New customer created | Welcome message with PPPoE username, password, and M-Pesa account number |
| Payment received | Receipt with amount, M-Pesa reference, and new expiry date |
| Subscription expiring in 3 days | Reminder with amount due and payment instructions |
| Subscription expired | Notification that service has been suspended with renewal instructions |
| Account reactivated | Confirmation that service has been restored |
Checking your SMS balance
Your current Bonga SMS credit balance is shown in the SMS settings page. Jasiyo checks this periodically and will show a warning in your Alerts when the balance is running low.
Top up directly in your Bonga SMS account. Credits are not managed through Jasiyo — Jasiyo uses your Bonga SMS account's existing credits.
