SMS Gateway Setup
Choose an SMS gateway so Jasiyo can send payment receipts, expiry reminders, and customer credentials.
Jasiyo needs an SMS gateway before it can text your customers — payment confirmations, expiry reminders, and login credentials all go out this way. Go to Settings → Communications and pick one.
Jasiyo SMS — the quickest start
Managed by us. Nothing to sign up for, no API keys, and it works the moment you switch it on. Messages send from the sender name JASIYO, billed at KSh 1 per SMS, and you top up your balance inside Jasiyo. Choose this unless you specifically want your own sender name.
Your own account
Bring your own provider and your own sender ID, and pay that provider directly. Jasiyo supports:
Bonga SMS, Africa's Talking, AdvantaSMS, TextSMS, Tilil, Konnekt Smart Life, Talksasa, Infobip, and TextBee, which turns an Android phone into your own gateway. For Uganda there is Boxuganda and Pandora SMS.
Setup with your own account (Bonga SMS)
Create a Bonga SMS account
Sign up at bongasms.co.ke and top up your SMS credits. Purchase a sender name (alphanumeric sender ID) to show your business name instead of a random number.
Get your API credentials
In your Bonga SMS dashboard, go to API Settings and copy your API Key and Client ID.
Configure in Jasiyo
Go to Settings → Communications in your Jasiyo dashboard, choose Bonga SMS (your account), and enter your API Key, Client ID, and sender name.
Send a test SMS
Click Send Test SMS and enter your own phone number. You should receive the test message within a few seconds.
What messages are sent automatically

Checking your SMS balance
On Jasiyo SMS, your balance and a Top Up SMS Credits button sit in Settings. Top up by M-Pesa and the credit is available straight away.
On your own account, the credits live with that provider — top up in their dashboard. Jasiyo spends what is already there and cannot add to it.
